Tucker Timber buys 5th Hurdle Mill

"We bought our first Hurdle mill in 1988. Since then we have bought four more. Our first Hurdle Mill gave us trouble free service for 24 years! To be profitable in a sawmill you need high production and low cost, we get that from our Hurdle Mills. When you consider how fast the Hurdle Mill can be installed, low initial cost, production and longevity of service we just don't see how you can beat a Hurdle. They're great mills and the Hurdle family has been great to deal with for 26 years."

Mill Upgraded

The Hurdle HeavyWeight Mill Package has been enhanced with an optional plc setworks(NanoSet) and an optional feed joystick. A 3 7/16 mandrel replaces the 2 15/16 mandrel. The Challenger carriage has been upgraded to a 1/2" thick frame, 3" dog cylinders, and Mac air valves. These are just a few of the new features of the latest Hurdle Heavyweight Sawmill. It adds to our costs to continuosly update and improve our mill, but continuous improvement is just built into our DNA. We think it has helped us to be successful in this competitive industry.

Hurdle Mills make $$ in tough markets

Several companies have shut down their larger mills and have purchased Hurdle Complete Circle Mill packages so they can run tighter, leaner, businesses to survive these tough times. We are using the slow time to focus on engineering new products and making our current designs better. The Hurdle Heavy Duty Bar Log Turner and the Hurdle Modular Husk, Cab, and Top Saw are introduced for modular mills.

Long Hurdle Mill

The first four headblock 60ft mill is designed and sold. Over the years, we've had many requests for a complete mill to cut longer material - this mill will cut logs up to 30' long!
